Brentor 27 February 2011

Church1, originally uploaded by iMJ2009.
Today we took the short drive to Brentor Church. The church can be seen for miles around due to its high position on top of a hill. The drive is appox 15 miles from our home, but the church can be seen on the drive between Plymouth and Yelverton, some 13 miles away....

The church is probably a popular place in the summer, whereas today due to the wind, grey skies and rain meant it was a lot quieter. There is a small car park at the foot of the hill.

Today it was very windy on top which meant it was also very cold! It was good to get the cobwebs blown away but due to my issues with heights it was fairly nervy at the back of the church where it was most windy and very close to a sharp drop!!!

Plymbridge on 16 February 2011

DSC07119, originally uploaded by iMJ2009.

Last week we went to Plymbridge woods. Unlike most weekends we went on a Saturday! We had some friends staying with us so we took the children for some fun in the woods! My mate Dan and myself spent the time taking photos, the children played with in weir, an all round good time!

Picking Saturday forour dayout worked out as on Sunday in rained all day! Parking is limited in Plymbridge woods so get their early...or late or park at the top of the hill!

If you are lucky you will see the wild deer roaming around as well.

Burgh Island

Today we visited Burgh Island. We picked the right day as the tide was right out so the sand plains were great for walking and playing on. Burgh Island is approx 20 miles from Plymouth. Theres a cafe and surf centre and lots of parking, although it is pay and display so take some change with you!
The Island hosts a hotel and pub, with a tractor running back and too during higher tides. As y9ou can see the weather was great, although you didn't feel the wind there was enough to wip up a few waves for the surfers.

Our youngest decided it would be fun to get completely soaked and covered in sand, the net result was a sand filled car when we got home!

Another great day out with some great oppotunities for photos.

Trip To Wembury

On 17th January we took the short drive to Wembury beach. Its a good spot for a walk and always popular with folk looking for surf to ride on. The weather was overcast and the forecast was for rain but this didn't deter us, we walked around the headland and played in the rocks and on the beach.

The tide was on its way in so we had to be a little bit careful of some crashing waves and low flying seagulls!
Alhtough the car park isn't huge it was pretty full, with many families taking advantage of a warmer Sunday than we have had recently.

When the tide is out the beach is open and there are plenty of rocks to play on, at all times there is a cafe and close by is the local church. Back up the hill there is a nice pub to warm yourself up after your walk!
